Synopsis:

Abigail Orson has a problem. A love problem to be precise; and she has absolutely no idea how to go about fixing it.

For years now, she has been chasing her best friend’s brother—demanding things from him that he’s never wanted to give. For one? A real relationship that surpasses well beyond that dreaded ‘just friends’ zone. You see, David Anderson is her idea of perfection to a T. The one and only guy who has ever had the ability to make her heart beat faster; make her toes curl with the simple blink of his long, girly lashes. But David is also a recovering amputee, and the only thing he really wants from Abigail is to be left alone. Abigail is a fighter though, and losing the one guy who has ruined her for every other is no longer an option.

A guy with one leg who has lost his motivation to live—to love—to actually be a man. David believes he’s a waste of space. If only the beautiful girl of his unattainable dreams would get that through her perfect, blonde, stubborn head! He’s not the right guy for Abigail. He’ll never be worthy of what she deserves. However, staying away is almost impossible, especially when he’s just as in love with her as she is with him. But Abigail has a life ahead of her, one that’s definitely livable without a nineteen–year–old gimp like him holding her down. What makes her want to stick around is beyond questionable to David’s mind.

Choices will be made. Lines will be drawn. And together, they will face challenges that nobody saw coming. David and Abigail may have had almost fourteen years to fall in love, but the thing is, timing and love have never exactly worked in their favor.

It has been years in the making, and definitely A Long Time Coming for David and Abigail. Let’s hope they don’t screw it up before they actually have the chance to get it right…

I currently reside in northern Illinois, with my three little ladies, and my fabulous hubby (and high school sweetheart) Chris. I'm a stay at home mom by day, and an avid and completely obsessive writer and reader by night.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for books, so of course I've been creating my own little stories since the age of seven. To be honest though, I never really had the confidence or the time to actually sit down and really do something about it until my youngest daugther Isabella was born just two years ago.
Bella, as well as her older sisters Kelsey and Emma, are and always will be, my greatest inspirations.

Resisting Fate, book one in the Pre-Determined trilogy, is my young adult, paranormal baby! It’s packed full of wolves…witches…and one sassy little red-headed teenage girl! I had an absolute blast writing it, and can’t wait to share it with the world! Resisting Fate will be released February 8th, 2013 through Midnight Hour Publishing.

I really enjoyed Perfect Timing #1, so obviously, I wanted to continue on with the series! I couldn't wait to continue on and see David & Abigail's story. I enjoyed Abs in the first book so I really couldn't wait to see more of her. David...well, I only knew he was sad, broken, and bitter in the first novel since it focuses more on Harley and Mason.

The characters in A Long Time Coming are the same characters (plus a few extra friends that we meet) from book 1. That made me happy because I wanted to see more of them!

I have to admit that I just didn't like David at all until I hit around the 55% mark through the story. He was too broody and depressed for me. Not attractive at all... I ADORE Abs though. Plus, seeing Mason & Harley a bit through the story made me happy (even though the circumstances were not pleasant).

The author, Heather, did a GREAT job with the dual PoV. It wasn't hard to follow at all. I knew exactly whose PoV I was reading through and enjoyed the differences in them.

The storyline is an up and down (down more than up) but it was a heck of an emotional journey. I felt torn apart part of the time. The characters could never catch a break. It was one thing after another. Overall, I felt like the feel of the novel was so much more negative and pessimistic than the first novel in the series. I had a rough time flipping pages here and there because (after one emotional revelation in particular that left me boo-hooing) I kept thinking, "Jeeeezzzzze, what else is going to happen to these poor people." >_<

Eventually, something goes right and makes me finally breathe a sigh of relief for them. I did love the ending and the epilogue. <3 That was well worth the rough mountains that they climbed. :)

So... overall rating. I have to say that this was a solid 3.5 for me. I wanted to love it even more but I just can't handle soooooo many sad things happening in one novel. I nearly go into a depressive coma for a bit. I do love the characters and I cannot wait to see what Heather Van Fleet does next!
