My Review:

I'm a sucker (no pun intended) for a good vampire novel. I was excited to take on Call of the Vampire for review because the new vampire novels that are coming out are intriguing. There's always some new twist on the "vampire" itself it seems - Some good, some not so good... (Meyer = Sparkles). LoL In this novel, the vampires can fly/float/what would you call it since they don't have wings, Ha. The author also throws the twist in that vampirism can be a "family thing." I liked that twist - families refusing to give up their families members so after they have kids and enter their 20's, they're turned so they can live forever. That makes it interesting.

Call of the Vampire had me hooked by the mystery aspect alone - I adore old castles and mysteries that surround them. I adore the fact that the Vanderlind's had their castle taken apart stone by stone and moved to America. However, I was amazed that it was Ohio that was their destination. Of all the places? No offense to Ohio or anything, I've actually been through and it's a beautiful place - it just seems a little random right? - it's like placing your finger on a map and slamming your finger down on the first place you come to. Maybe it was chosen because it doesn't draw too much attention? Hmm things to think about right?

The characters are great in this novel. Each has their own very distinct personality. They're easy to keep straight & interesting enough that you want to follow each of them to see what they do next. However, they aren't over the top with their personalities. There's a good balance with the characters.

Aurora's character was easy to love and cheer for. I did have a few moments where I couldn't help but roll my eyes because she was being a little too childish (dancing with the tux), but overall, you could tell that she acted more mature as compared to others her age. She is very protective of those she loves and very responsible. You learn enough about Jessie to love him but not enough about him to stave off your curiosity and drive to know more. I feel like Aurora doesn't even really KNOW much about him. We get a feel for his background and what his life has been life, but you don't know much about who he is now. He's gentle, respectful, emotional, holds on to his humanity and compassion, and loved Aurora's Great Grandmother's Sister Colette to no end. You know his dad died a human, his mom's side is a little messed up, and his brother seems like a total douche. But still, I felt like I didn't KNOW him? I don't know if I'm making any sense at all... It's hard to put into words. That sounds like something negative, but really, it's not. It leaves a lot of room for book 2 to continue opening our eyes and hearts to who Jessie really is deep down.

Gayla puts a neat twist in the plot when it comes to Colette's death. Was it possible for Colette to be reincarnated as Aurora? How Aurora is able to dream about Colette if that's not the case... It's a big mystery that I hope ends up being explained in book 2.

I know that this is novel #1 for a series so there's a lot of questions left unanswered. I won't lie when I say that the ending did leave me a little empty inside. I wasn't happy about that part but, again, I know this is the start to a series so I'm holding out hope. I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Overall, this was a really intriguing, mysterious, and thought provoking new vampire tale. I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to get my hands on book 2 later this year!

My Review:

Heidi managed to make me like a character that I really disliked originally.... My Everything was definitely a surprise for me! Nick, Josie's ex fiance, runs off to Africa at the end of My Forever Girl. I honestly said to myself "good riddance" when that happened. Though, when I started reading My Everything, I was surprised to learn that he did it as a last ditch effort to keep his family. Deep down, he knew he'd lost Josie to Liam, but accepting it was hard.

My Everything is a quick read that helps you understand why Nick did what he did, how he really feels, that he really wasn't that bad of a guy, and then what happens when he comes back home to Beaumont. I have to be honest and say that I was a little floored by the insta-love between Nick & Aubrey. Maybe it wasn't really insta-love after all... they were there a year LoL I guess it just seemed like insta-love because it's such a quick read.

I'm glad that Heidi took on this novella so we understood more about Nick and what made him tick. (I just rhymed there, LoL - totally unintentional ). I loved the insight into this character that I previously wanted to swat away out of book 1. It was a really pleasant short read that opened my eyes to the other side of the story.

Overall, definitely 4 stars for this novella because of the insight that it brought for me!

My Review:

I've been on a fantasy kick lately as far as reviews go. At least it seems that way, LoL.

I love urban fantasy novels. However, this one, because it's so complex, could almost go right into the fantasy category losing the "urban." I understand why it's an urban fantasy though - That's not intended to be a negative comment in this situation. The world & characters are just very complex. I loved the creativity & adored the crazy characters that Amy creates in this novel.

You see the female lead, Kailey, grow up in this novel - maybe grow up is the wrong term. She Matures - that's a better way to put it. She changes from a victim of a horrible attack to a strong lead female character.

When you read the synopsis, you don't get insight into the fact that this novel does hold a romantic aspect along with the action & fantasy world. Definitely a hot read in parts for mature audiences. Lately, I've gotten annoyed with most love triangles. But this one, I liked.  Oh the men... They're, I have to admit, swoonworthy. I want to know how this works out in the end. Definitely can't wait to see where book 2 goes.

I loved the majority of the characters - except Amber >_< Ug that girl got on my nerves. She's supposed to be Kailey's best friend but she's a horrible person. She takes jabs at Kailey on occasion too - I seriously wanted to jump through the book & knock her out. Grrrr.

Overall, really great novel that I think a lot of people would love so the word definitely needs to get out there about this one!

My Review:

This is one of those controversial subjects that I tend to stay away from now that I'm an "adult" because my emotions on the subject are vastly different now vs when I was a teen. This series deals with the building relationship between a high school teacher and his 15 year old student. As a mom and an adult, I wanted to be mad at Tom for allowing himself to pursue such a relationship.... but I remember being in my teens and having a crush on that one teacher that always caught your eye... I can't help but envy Isabel for being able to have that relationship with the untouchable.

Student/teacher relationships are a very controversial subject and I worried that once I started this series I would be on edge the whole time because it would just feel wrong to read about it. However, Eva does a wonderful job of riding the fence. In book one, we read from Isabel's POV... seeing how much she really cares about Tom... Now, one can argue that she's too young to feel what she feels, she's too naive to truly understand what's going on, or she has too much pressure on her shoulders at such a young age - too much to hide and constantly looking over her shoulder because she's afraid to get caught. Now Tom, one can argue over and over again that he knew what he was doing was wrong on all levels, that he has a wife & kids at home, that she's practically a child, that he should've never acted on any of his feelings.... Eva does a great job of portraying the emotions that Isabel is feeling so we can see, as the reader, that she's honest with her feelings. Now, I did get annoyed with her over and over again because she became almost flighty... Kiss a boy on the trip, kiss her previous supervisor one afternoon... she did these things supposedly because she wanted to see if she could feel anything for any other boys and she wanted Tom to feel one ounce of the jealously that she feels because he goes home to a wife and kids each night. Rather than just talking to Tom, she acted her age and did a few stupid things. Overall though, as the reader, I felt Isabel was definitely more mature than most 15/16 year olds that I've been around.

Starting book two, you begin to read straight from Tom's POV. I absolutely loved reading from his POV because he's almost the character that you love to hate because you can't help that nagging perception that what he did was wrong but yet you see that he truly cares for and loves Isabel. Now, I won't lie and say that he's this great, trustworthy guy... because honestly, half the time, I don't know what to believe and what not to believe. He has a smooth tongue and could probably talk his way out of a plastic bag buried in cement and dropped in the ocean. LoL Reading from his POV helps to clear several things up though but as soon as you jump back to Isabel's POV, you're confused again.

In book two, things are different because Isabel is a 20 year old who's free to make her own life choices now. Technically, they don't have to hide what's going on but the rumor mill is still there and constantly haunting their every move. Can they get away from it? What will her parents think when she finally comes clean and they find out she lied to them for years and years..... lied to the cops, lied to her parents, lied to friends, lied to everyone except her best friend....Even though they're both two consenting adults, people will still talk. I actually liked book 2 better than I did book 1 - I think it's because of the insight that I gained into Tom's feelings and character....I disliked Tom more in book 1- thinking he was more of a lying creep... I started to see him more as a man head over heels in love in book 2... No matter if I thought it right or wrong. Who's to say, really & truly, what's right or wrong... Ya know?

Lots of hoops to jump through, walls to knock down, and mountains to climb... that's for sure....

Overall, I did enjoy this read even though I was torn between enjoying what was unfolding and feeling kind of like a creep for hoping for the best for a 15 year old and her teacher. LoL

My Review:
Okay - so first off, let me go ahead and be completely honest... this is the my most precious ARC I've ever had the privilege of obtaining! I'm a HUGE fan of Larissa Ione! The Demonica Series is one of my absolute favorite series.... ever. The Lords of Deliverance series continues on with the characters from the Demonica Series and explores the lives of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. I ADORE this series and actually Pre-Ordered Rogue Rider MONTHS ago! As soon as it was out for pre-order, I had it waiting in my library.

So, with that out of the way, I'll tell you what I thought of Rogue Rider. I'm going to try not to include any spoilers because well, book spoilers suck to me... I don't want someone to ruin it for me, so I'll try not to ruin it for you...

HOLY HELL this is officially my favorite out of the LoD series... I loved the other 3 to no end but Rogue Rider knocked my socks off. I couldn't have dreamed up a better finale for LoD - especially the way that it leaves room for a new series to open right up and continue on with the story. I cannot wait to continue on with Reaver and Harvester. This is one of my favorite things about Ione's Demonica Series + LoD Series = she continues on with the same characters but adds in new ones. It's the same world, the same families... you get so attached to her characters and the great thing is, they don't disappear. You get to continue on and see how their lives continue to change and their families grow even when they aren't the "main" characters in the next book.

As with all of the other characters that Ione has created, Reseph is brilliant and Jillian is the perfect female character to fit right along side of Reseph. Every character in this series is written so perfectly and clearly that you feel like you could pick up your cell phone to give them a call. They're REAL people... at least to the reader. Rogue Rider picked up on the story where Lethal Rider leaves off.

The romance is swift but honestly, I felt the connections immediately between the two. It was one of those BAM! moments where you think "wow, they are great together" (but not annoyingly so). Both trying to overcome pasts, Reseph trying to remember his, they lean on each other even though neither wants to be left vulnerable. Rogue Rider is a great struggle between good versus evil, as is this entire series. With Reseph, it's a struggle to overcome what he once was as Pestilence. The horrible acts eat him up inside so he struggles to try and right the wrongs even though he feels he deserves the worst punishment deliverable.

The climax is oh-so-nail-biting. I didn't realize I was holding my breath until I started getting a little light headed. I honestly have NO nails left... The romance is breath taking/hot/amazing/perfect... I could keep going... It's not mushy and annoying... it's... great....

Umm... and Wow is there one hell of a revelation that will leave you picking your jaw up off of the floor.

Rogue Rider is definitely one of those books where you start it one day, read all night long, and finish it before you even have your first cup of coffee in your system. You can't put it down! Plus, when it's over and your last page is turned, you want the next book NOW. Not in a week. Not tomorrow. NOW! I cannot wait to continue on with the story of character's lives.

Okay - I could honestly go on and on about Rogue Rider. If I haven't spelled it out enough already - this is a GREAT read but I HIGHLY recommend starting from the beginning - pick up Demonica Book 1 NOW!!!! I promise, you won't regret it if you're a fan of adult paranormal romance. You can thank me later ^_^
