Synopsis via Goodreads:

“In its purest form love is self-sacrificing, eternal, selfless, enduring, truthful, forgiving and indulgent. It also feels an awful lot like a kick to the stomach when you try to fight it!”

All Everleigh Carsen wanted to do was complete her final semester at Hensley University and begin the life she carefully planned.

When a wave of violent crime seizes campus, Everleigh is persuaded to attend a school sponsored self-defense seminar by her best friend, where she meets volunteer instructor, Hunter Charles. After Everleigh’s biting sarcasm induces Hunter to eject her from class, a tempestuous relationship is born.

Everleigh is determined to forget the striking man, but fate—that fickle shrew—continuously intervenes. Unable to escape him, she declares Hunter an enemy combatant. The only complication…Hunter is resolutely pursuing vindication…by any means necessary. Verbal warfare ensues, and despite Everleigh’s ingenious efforts, in Hunter, she has finally found her equal.

Only For You is a compelling tale of friendship, desire, and redemption—brimming with intelligent characters, witty dialogue, unexpected twists, profound sorrow, unfettered hope, and love’s unassailable perseverance.

Wow... holy...wow...

I loved this novel. I didn't want to put it down because I found the characters so magnetic. The personalities of the characters are really bold. They're strong characters who I fell in love with. I have to admit, at times, I felt a little overwhelmed by Ev's bold attitude because I didn't quite find it "realistic." I took a step back from the book and realized, "Who cares? I love how blunt and bold she constantly is. It's a book, I'm going to enjoy it." Ha. :)

Sam, Ev & Hunter... Loved them! And I LOVEEEE Griffin! I can't wait to start the second book in the series to watch Sam & Griffin's story unfold!

The plot was a painful subject - women being taken from campus and brutally raped, beaten, and then they began to be left behind for dead. All of the female students were constantly on edge and having to watch every step they make around campus. I think back to my time in college and I shudder. I never had to go through anything of this nature and it's heart-breaking. I can only imagine looking over my shoulder every step of the way... to and from class, my car, anywhere on campus.

I loved Hunter & Ev together. I thought it was a great pairing. Honestly, I had guessed "what" he was before it was unveiled so I wasn't surprised there. Even though I had it guessed, I was still enamored with the plot unfolding and the secrets coming out.

What happens to... gosh... I just can't bring myself to ruin this for you. No spoilers! You have to read it to find out what unfolds that leaves you speechless and begging to flip to the last page to see what happens with the characters. Breaks my heart and left me feeling shell-shocked that it actually happened.

Overall, loved this novel & I can't wait to start book 2! This is definitely an author I'll want to follow & see what she does next!

Overall: 5 Stars
Cover Rating: 3.5 Stars <-Love the cover, it's beautiful. Love the "forever" written on it. But....I feel like if I saw it in the store, I'd probably walk right by it.
Characters: 5 Stars
Plot: 5 Stars
Climax: 5 Stars
Ending: 5 Stars <- Can't wait for the next installment!
